    Default Java vs C++,when to use one over the other????

    Hey Everyone, I wanted to know what the main differences between java and C++ are and in what kind of applications they surpass each other. I know C++ programs run faster and that Java is platform independent. But besides that why would I use one over the other??? Thanks.
