Default Nice to meet you all!

    Hello everyone!

My name is Josh. I'm a computer science major at Columbus State University out of Georgia, U.S. I take my education seriously and am kind of obsessed about upskilling myself professionally. I'm pretty good with Python and am currently trying to expand my Java skills, which are still at the beginner level. I found taking part in forums to be a great resource for learning Python, so I hope to replicate that. I dislike the culture of SO and decided to find other communities with which to engage. Plus, I'm fairly partial to the look and functionality of phpBB forums, ever since I made my own for a Lord of the Rings fansite way back when!

I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Have you played XCOM, where a 95% chance to hit misses a lot more than once in twenty? Or Rimworld, where a hunter fires at long range with a weapon that says 90% chance to hit at long range? Or any of a large number of video games that publish a stat labeled Damage Per Second (DPS) that doesn't seem to be related to damage/second?

I suspect you could do well for yourself by gaining a solid understanding of mathematics in the pursuit of software development.
