I think it all depends how much exposure you've had to programming and programming logic. If your a complete beginner then I think the initial learning stage must be quite hard. When I started learning Java I already had experience with Visual Basic, Perl & PHP so that really helped me pick up Java quite quickly. Once you start learning Java I think you will be learning forever because the language is constantly evolving and there is a lot to learn!
If you program for 90 minutes a day you will pick up Java in no time. Once you understand the basics, everything else starts to fall into place.
