    Default Hi,

I'm an old school programmer that wants to learn something 'new' so I thought Java was interesting.

I work as a senior Oracle DBA and code mainly in PL/SQL. In my work I have developed lots of programs to monitor and manipulate Oracle database from PL/SQL but without a proper GUI. So my goal is to create a Java GUI for some monitoring routies I've made.

Since I have a long background in non object oriented programming I thought this would be a breeze, but I was wrong. I've had a hard time to wrap my head arround how OOP works, but it finally starts to sink in (I think) I manged kind of ok so far (but slow), but now I'm really stuck and need som help and pointers to the right path.

    Cheers,
    Magnus

Welcome! Glad you're here, and it'll be interesting to watch/help you make the transition or shift. Don't fret. It'll make sense with a little practice.
