Default textpad & java

ok so i read paddys thread but it didnt solve my issue. Our instructor requires us to use textpad and only textpad with java. I have windows 7 and i have downloaded and installed jdk 6 update 17 and then i downloaded and installed textpad 5.3. thing is, when i run textpad, its not aligned to compile java. i checked in configure->preferences->tools but there was no java options under the add menu. got any idea how I can get textpad to align with the jdk? ive reinstalled both numerous times but textpad never aligns with java.

Hello dvsumosize and welcome to the forums

I am unsure what you mean by "textpad never aligns with java"

Are you talking about the standard text pad application that comes with windows? If so, this doesn't include anything to compile your Java code.

I think this link will help you:

no not the textpad that comes with windows, i actually downloaded textpad 5.3 after downloading and installing java 6 update 17. Normally with windws xp i was able to download and when i installed textpad after java, it would already have the java applet compile and stuff like that under the configure---->preferences----> tools option it doesnt do that on windows 7 and im wondering how i can get it to have those in the tools/add menu in preferences.
