I've made a thread on these forums before, looking for programmers for this project, but that's so old and outdated now that I decided to just create a new thread.
Days of Destiny
Days of Destiny will be a 2D game set in a post-apocalyptic world, developed in the Java programming language. The outside world (travelling, chatting, etc.) will be orthogonal, with the camera, etc. being a little like Pokemon, while combat will be a side-on view, and will be fast-paced, having lots of quick action, like Super Smash Bros.
Free to play
If the game becomes successful, developers will receive a share of the revenue. Don't count on it though; chances are the game will stay free, and please join the project for the coding/teamwork experience rather than for money.
Java (at least 1.5) will be required for all clients wanting to play
LWJGL, an OpenGL binding for Java, will be used to render the graphics
TWL (Themeable Widget library), will be used for the GUI
KryoNet, a Java library for networking
MySQL for database storage on the server-side
Java programmers - We require 3 more Java programmers to help with the development of both the client and the server. NOTE: AT LEAST 1 YEAR OF JAVA PROGRAMMING IS REQUIRED!
GUI artist - We're in dire need of an experienced GUI artist to take care of things such as the player-to-player chat window, NPC chat window, menus, etc
Graphics/Pixel artists - We already have a few graphics artists, however, if you really want to join, feel free to apply anyway
- Quasar (myself): Project leader
- Json: Client/Server and networking developer
- MatthiasM2: Creator of the TWL library (mentioned above), GUI developer
If you're interested in joining the project, please apply on our forums!
