I have a question about classes and functions. When to use which one? After some research I came to the conclusion always to use classes (OOP) except if I need to pass a parameter. Am I correct or is there more to it than just a parameter?

You need to read through a basic tutorial, because the words you're saying don't even really match what you're trying to describe.
