Default Beginner Java Books & College

Hey guys, i'm heading into college next year/a few months and well i got into a Computer Science 3 class, in that class the language they teach is Java. I have done C++ programming in the past so i do have experience with programming in general. The question that i would like to ask you guys is what would you recommend as a good book for a beginner in the Java programming language that could make it much easier for me to pick up the language and to become a better programmer?

    Thanks guys!

    Hi,
Head First Java is quite good. It's very helpful, although it deals with 1.5, IMHO.
