    What is the difference between preemptive scheduling and time slicing?

    This isn't really a Java question.

    It might pay to have a look at Wikipedia's page on Scheduling and the links to more detailed descriptions given there. Perhaps what you mean by "time slicing" is covered by "Round-robin scheduling".
