    Default problem with a maze program

    I am new to programming, so please accept my apologies if this question is simple.

    I'm creating a program that generates a random maze depending on the starting point you enter.

    I did every thing but when I execute the program, it doesn't show the path to get out from the maze.

    I think the problem is in the solvemaze() method, but I couldn't figure out how to fix it

    please help me for I need to know how to fix the program

    First, I do not think this program is simple. I do not see the problem with your code and I think you are doing a really cool job attempting to solve it. However, I would suggest reading more on Backtracking - concept and then reviewing your case again.

    What are the meanings of the letters X and O?

    X - SOLID WALL (no passage allowed)
    O - PATH (passage allowed)
    . - TRAVELED (path traveled to find the exit)

    Three suggestions:
    1)Define a final variable with the value 'O' and use that instead of hardcoding 'O' in all the places you are using it
    2) Replace the test for a free square in the maze with a method instead of having all the tests that you currently have. This will make for easier debugging. For example:
    private boolean isFree(int r, int c) {
    System.out.println(... show r and c here and the contents of the maze...

    3) Add lots more printlns to show what the code is doing and how variables are being changed.
    The output from the printlns will show you where your problem is.

    Some more suggestions:
    Add a toString() method to the Coord class that returns the row and col.
    Then you can just use the variable for the Coord object in a println to show its values.
