    Default Trouble applying knowledge

    Hello all,
I am currently a Computer Science student on my senior year of college. My strongest language by far is JAVA which I have used in study for about 5 years now. The issue that keeps coming up is that I am having trouble applying any of my knowledge to anything that seems usable in the real world. I try and go into the Android environment and just feel completely lost on how to do anything even simple. Mainly the only coding I have done is in class which I do great on but it just feels meaningless. I feel like if I start working on side projects and such, things will start making sense but I don't even know where to start. Any help would be appreciated so I stop feeling like all my studies have been for nothing.
