    Default Re: index of array

    What you mean is, you want to check if a string is in a array, then if it is, get the index, right?

    If the array is a ArrayList you can't check with the string alone, ArrayList.get() needs the index. So make a for() loop and check if the value is the same as the string, if it is, take the index.

    Here is some example code:
    int newIndex;
    for(int i = 0; i<ArrayList.size(); i++)
    {
     if(ArrayList.get(i).equals(stringValue)
     {
      newIndex = i;
     }
    }

    It would be possible to check with the string if it was not a ArrayList but a Hashtable.
