Thread: Looking for Java Books/Videos for absolute begginer

Hey there guys, i am completely new to Java and also never done any programming. Decided to start learning java because i am really interested in it, just never really had the time to start it. Now i am asking you if i should either start with videos/books or online tutorials? I wanted to start with java official tutorials from oracle then move on to either a book or a video tutorial. What do you think would be the best option for me? Also wanted to try Head First Java book but heard really different reviews about it so now im not sure. Recommend me any books or videos for a complete begginer that would be the best. Thanks in advance

No one can tell you what's best for you. Just dig in and try something, and if that's not working well for you, move to something else. I recommend you follow a guide that has structure, a beginning, middle, and end, with lots of examples and exercises. Books present this approach better than most other mediums as long as the reader starts on page one and continues to work the book's pages in order from there. Tutorials and videos are easier to take out of order, and unless you really know what you need and in what order you need it, your own lesson plan will probably be less effective.
