    I recommend reading JFP Announcement (which should have beend read before posting), in particular the code formatting section...I have edited your post to format the lengthy code you posted.

    To answer your question...use Swing components, they are double buffered by default. To manually do it, you must draw everything offscreen, typically to a BufferedImage which the paint/paintComponent method draws. Many examples in a google search which describes how to do this.
