Give yourself a pet project. Create an application that does something useful for you, or a small game, or a web application, or an Android app, etc. Java is a large beast with many heads, so which direction you go really depends on your interests.

Then you need to be honest with your supervisors and tell them that you might be in over your head.

That is entirely up to you. Strangers on the internet can't give you career advice.

Haha! That made my night. You'll certainly earn more money. 10/10 career advice.

In seriousness if you aren't ready for a career in development it will show quickly. One of two things are going to happen. The other dev's and managers will become aware you are not competent for the role of a developer and you will be dismissed, reassigned or ignored. Alternatively, they understand you are an entry level dev and want to train you up. Either way be honest to your superiors, seek out learning opportunities from the more experienced workmates and find ways to make yourself useful. I guarantee you that in a large company there are manageable wins in the backlog or documentation that needs some love.
Computers are fascinating machines, but they're mostly a reflection of the people using them.
