I don't make my living in the software industry, but I've had many jobs over many years. Not all of those jobs were pleasant or exactly what I wanted to be doing, especially when I was starting out. With many year's experience and what I consider to be a successful career and work history, I recommend that you:

Quit whining. Instead, be the best tester that company has ever seen. Get out of bed every morning excited about going to work, arrive at work with a smile, do your job enthusiastically, professionally, and better than it has ever been done before, help others on the test team be better testers, and always be looking for extra work. You are working on a big project - probably several - as a tester. As you test and on your own time, you should be learning to be a better, more experienced programmer/developer.

Or, find another job that's not exactly what you want and whine about that one.

    Ashi,
This is what I would suggest.
First make yourself determined what you want to be for longtime in the future. Programmer/Developer? Tester? Database Designer? etc.
If you wanted to be Programmer/Developer then keep doing the current job. Get an experience of about at least three to six months.
Parallelly take some time out every day and work hard to improve your skills in programming languages such as Java, etc.
Then afterwards with the experience and knowledge you gain you may try for entry-level programmer/developer jobs.

    Syed.

why not do the testing job for a little while because when you make your programs youll have to test them to make sure they are working correctly anyway so it will give you a good skill to help you when you do get to coding
