The JVM is not platform independent. This is because it take Java byte code and translates it into code that will run on a specific chip. This means that a specific JVM is "tied to" a specific chip.
Java on the other hand compiles to byte code that is always the same so that it is platform independent.
Does this make sense?

I'll be blunt: there is so much information online about this (in fact over 6 million hits) I have to ask - what did google tell you? What about your research are you confused about? I presume it at least told you its Platform and not Flatform.Originally Posted by harirock
