That's a start. As you get more experience you'll be able to improve the techniques you've used.
  3. Re: Android Eclipse: Populate the ListView with dynamic Array

That is the String returned by the toString() method for an array of Strings.

Can you post what is shown? It might be a clue to what is happening.

Re: confused about this for loop/ array?

A 2D array requires two indexes to access an element in the array.
The posted code uses the variable row to index into the first dim of the array

    What does "close" mean?

What happened when you used dispose() or setVisible()?

    Re: Find Highest rated movie

The code has to save where that value came from.
Either a reference to the object
or an index into the Vector for where that object is stored.

A better name would be currMaxRating??? instead of s. Does it hold an index or is it a reference to a film object or the value of the max rating?

What is "s"? variable names should show what the contents of the variable. "s" has no meaning.

    Re: Find Highest rated movie

I don't see any code to do that. Where is the rating stored? The code needs to get each film's rating so it can compare it against the best found so far.

The definition needs to be changed so...

How are you debugging the code? I don't see any println() statements for showing what the code is doing and where it is executing.

Please edit your post and wrap your code with code tags:

    Re: Find Highest rated movie

If it is going to search the FilmVector, pass a reference to that.

It could return the object or it could return the index to that object.

Are all the compiler errors fixed? They need to be fixed before the code can be executed for testing.

If there are errors, copy the full text of the error messages and paste it here.

    Re: Find Highest rated movie

It's still not right. For example there are }s in the first column in the middle of the code.
The only place a } should be in the first column is at the end of a class's definition.

Re: confused on this recursive method example

Try doing some debugging. Add some println statements to print out the values of variables as they are used. The printout will show you what the code is doing.
