    It is saved as a Date. It's String representation is 20/8/1989, which is still the corrrect Date. You only need your format to display the Date. For that you use the SimpleDateFormat.

    The month pattern is M, m is minutes.

    That's it :) Have a look at the coding conventions (again). Class names start with capital letters, method and variable names with lower case letters.

    It won't work that way, because in Vehicle you create a new CarDealer, which doesn't have a strLicence set.
