    Look at the while loop condition. Seems you are having some logical issues between && and ||

    && requires both conditions to be true for it to run

    || requires only one condition to be true to run

    failedMessage has a return type of void. So it makes no sense to try and set it equal to a variable. That is what the compiler is trying to tell you.

    If count is the length of your array, and arrays in java are indexed from 0-(n-1) then you have an out of bounds error.

    int[] array = new int[5];

    If you have an array of scores that you pass into your method, how do you plan on getting the sum of all those values of that array and putting it into one variable?

    You need a loop in your getAverage method in order to get all the values from the scores array.
