Re: The Impossible Java Threading Problem!

Early optimization is a well known waste of time.

Use a profiler to see where there is extra time used or a bottleneck and work on those areas, after you have found a performance problem.

    Re: I need to help

    Please explain what is wrong.

Why does the code use += to add a value to result
instead of just using = to assign a value to result?

If you have found where the message is printed,
now look at the code to see why it is printed.

    Re: I need to help

Can you copy the contents of the console with the error message and paste it here?
    I can't read the image.

    Ok I saw this:
The compiler can't find a definition for result that is in scope where...

    Re: Concordance Help

That is very hard to understand.
Open the source in a text editor and do a Find for the following text:
    No file name provided

Or read the source line by line looking for that text.

    Re: Concordance Help

Did you look in the code to see where that message was printed and why it was printed?
  10. Re: Cannot find simbol error .. can somebody help??

Where is the code looping? What variable's value controls the looping? Make sure the value in the variable changes so that the loop will end.
  11. Re: FixedThreadPool to launch socket connections and jar files...

I don't know how to change what the code in the jar file does without changing the code that is in the jar file.
It might be possible to put your own classes in the classpath and classloader that...
  12. Re: Cannot find simbol error .. can somebody help??

The compiler can not find a definition for the variable: x that is in scope where it is being referenced.
Check the code to make sure there is a definition for x that is in scope where it is being...

    Did you have a question?

If there are errors, copy the full text of the message and paste it here.
  14. Re: Couting in the multidimensional array in java?

Ok, you should copy the full contents of the console from when you execute the program so we can see EXACTLY what was entered and what the program printed out.
    You said:
    but it doesnt work for...
  15. Re: Couting in the multidimensional array in java?

Are those 4 lines of digits the only input that the user enters when executing the program?

I put ALL the user's input into the Scanner class's constructor to allow easy testing:

Did you understand Greg's answer? Do you have any questions about how to do what he suggested.

BTW We don't write code for OPs. We'd rather help them learn to program. I don't think giving OPs...
  17. Re: Couting in the multidimensional array in java?

    Please explain.
    Post the program's current output
and post what you want the output to look like
and add some comments describing the difference between the two.
  18. Re: Couting in the multidimensional array in java?

The compiler is saying that matrix[i] (a char array) can not be compared to a char value: '1'
matrix[i][secDimIndex] would be a char value that could be compared.

    What have you tried?
  20. Re: Couting in the multidimensional array in java?

What happens when you compile and execute the code?
If there is output, please copy it and paste it here with a description.
  21. Re: A one runway airport using multiple threads - no idea where I'm going wrong

Time for some debugging. Add some more println() statements that print out the values of variables as their values are changed and used.
Start by finding out Why is the minute value always 0?

    Re: Ambient light code

That's going to require some research on your part to learn how to write java code. No one here is going to write the code for you. Take a look at how code on other threads on this forum are...
  24. Re: A one runway airport using multiple threads - no idea where I'm going wrong

Do you have your own class named: Queue? The posted code doesn't compile with the Java SE class.
NOTE: Using Java SE class names for your classes is confusing.

    Re: Ambient light code

Some problems I see is there isn't a class or a main() method.
There needs to be code that can be compiled and executed for testing.

Also the code has lost its indentations making it harder to...
