    Re: Grading System Program

    Yes it does help you. By refining your design (in fact step away from the computer and sketch things out on a piece of paper) will help remove flaws and push you towards writing a complete and...

    Re: Question about (10)++%5 == 0

    Correct. What causes a lot of confusion is when people try

    int i = 5;
    i = i++;
    System.out.println(i);

    and are surprised when it displays 5 and not 6.

    Re: Grading System Program

    You have a terrible design. You almost never want to extend your main class. Is Students a special kind of Main2? A Dog is a special type of Animal so it makes sense for Dog to extend Animal. In your...

    Re: Multi dimensional array

    I'd have to agree with Norm. The printf method is for formatting the output. If all you what is to display something without a carriage return then use the print method.

    Re: returing my value from an array

    I want you to walk into the kitchen, open the cutlery drawer, grab a spoon and smack yourself on the forehead. How can it possibly be correct if you are getting errors?
  9. [SOLVED] Re: how to convert a input array of type Strings to a class type

    You might want to give the Passenger array variable a name as well!
  10. [SOLVED] Re: Postfix in array[i++] seems effect my expecting result

    You are incrementing i inside the loop. You should try to avoid changing the value of your loop control variable inside the loop as it can have unexpected side effects as you have found out....

    Re: Working code But not intended result?

    I told you what the problem was. Once again the variable you display on the screen is not changing value. The variable that changes is NOT being displayed on the screen. You can fix it in 2 ways.

    Re: Working code But not intended result?

    How? Several hundred print statements.

    Ahh while loop instead. Which basically does the same thing.

    Re: Array problem

    Maybe I'm being dense but i am not seeing your solution. What if the user enters (5,5)? Has that cell been visited before? What should it display (* or hint)? How do you determine that?

    Re: get value from jTable to jDateChooser

    As the error says you cannot just cast a String to a Date you need to create a Date object from the String. I see the code at the bottom uses a SimpleDateFormat. Hmmm how can that help?

    Re: returing my value from an array

    I find that hard to believe. You should be getting an unreachable statement error as you have code after the return statement.
