  1. Re: Having problems with placing JButtons precisely.

    It sounds like you're talking about a null layout, where you manually specify the bounds of every component.

    That's generally considered a bad idea, since you should let layouts handle that kind...
  2. Re: How do I calculate and display win/loss for two different teams in Java using a boolean function and arrays

    I think you need to take a step back and approach each part of the problem, one at a time.

    You've got your createWinner() function written, so that's a great start.

    Can you create a program...

    Re: why is there no scrollpane?

    I'm not sure I understand your question.

    You use a JTextField for a single line of text. These are usually for very small text entries, so that's why it's weird to put it inside a JScrollPane.

    Re: why is there no scrollpane?

    This is not accurate. While it's a bit strange to wrap a JTextField in a JScrollPane, they should work just fine.

    Re: why is there no scrollpane?

    It seems weird to put a JScrollPane around a JTextField, but oh well.

    You do have a JScrollPane around your JTextField, it just doesn't show until it needs to. Try typing in enough letters to fill...

    Re: error: illegal start of expression

    It looks like you're trying to put methods inside of the main() method. Methods can't be inside other methods. They have to be inside a class, in this case at the same level as your main() method.

    Huh? Did you actually try this? You **do** still have access to the methods of the Test class.

    Re: What happens when i write this?

    Nope. What if your Test class was like this:

    public class Test {

    private int x = 50;

    public Test() {
    System.out.println("printing TEST constructor");
    x = 100;

    Re: Prints every minimum in array ..

    It sounds like you want to build the String before your show the message dialog. What...

    Re: Destructors

    Why are you setting your variable to null in the first place? Just let it go out of scope.

    Can you post an MCVE that demonstrates exactly what you're doing?
