    What variables values controls the character's position?
    Where is the code supposed to change those values?
    Is the code to change their values being executed? If not, why not?

    Yes, see post #2
  5. Re: Why can't I remove this node from a binary search tree?

    Start by printing out what is in t after "word" is added
    and after "word" is deleted.
    For example:

    System.out.println("after add t="+t);

    That will print: classname@xxxxxx
    You'll have...
  6. Re: Why can't I remove this node from a binary search tree?

    Yes, so now you need to debug it to find out why. One way is to use print statements as discussed in the previous posts.

    Sorry, that's a lot past the 300 line limit I suggested.

    Did you...

    Here are some from your code:

    System.out.println(message + (result ? "passed" : "FAILED"));
    ...
    System.out.println(message + (result ? "passed" : "FAILED"));

    They display...

    Where are the print statements for debugging the code?

    Why are so many new instances of BSTRefBased created?

    There are still 50+ compiler errors.

    Try debugging it as I suggested in post#2.
  10. Re: Why can't I remove this node from a binary search tree?

    Why aren't those comments in the code? When I copy the code they should be there so I can read them.
    Posting them here is a waste of time.

    Where are the print statements for debugging the code?...

    Re: Java KeyPressed Error

    Have you tried debugging the code to see when and why the values the program uses to control the character's position on the screen? Add some print statements that print the variables' values every...
  12. Re: Why can't I remove this node from a binary search tree?

    Can you post a small, complete program that compiles, executes and shows the problem?

    How are you debugging the code? How do you see if the rechaining of the nodes in the tree is done correctly?...

    Re: Cannot compile a program with .jar file

    The jar file must contain class files. The .java files in a jar file are not used by the compiler.

    Re: issue setting up second method!

    Yes, that is possible. The question is: does that way of computing produce the correct result?

    The main() method would pass the arrays containing the user's input to the qualityPoints() method.

    Re: Cannot compile a program with .jar file

    Strange it would find the definition for the class: hello_world_package but not a method in that class.

    Are there other versions of the class without that method?
    What is in the packEx.jar file?

    Re: issue setting up second method!

    Please explain in more detail.
    When should the method be called?
    What args should be passed to the method?
    What does the method do with those args?
    What value does the method return?
