    Default making a notepad with java netbeans

    i have to make a notepad kind of app with a menubar.
    it should display the number of pages, characters and words at the bottom

    ive finished the first the line, but i have no idea how to start the second

    I suggest you ditch the GUI builder and read through this to get a better understanding of what's going on: Trail: Creating a GUI With JFC/Swing (The Java™ Tutorials)

    But where are you stuck? What have you tried? What worked, what didn't it work? How didn't it work? Be specific, and post an SSCCE that demonstrates what you're talking about.
