    Default Checking in.

    Hello everyone.

    I just stumbled upon this forum by accident, and was suprised by the friendly tone used here. To often programming forums consist of a few very good, but sadly very elitist and selfcentered, programmers byting everyones head off, and finding it infinetly funny to link lmgtfy, to every single question.
    This however seems different, so Im looking very much forward to being a part of this community.

    A little about myself. Having had java for a semester in CS, Ive had a sniff at java, but still need a lot af actual experience to call myself a programmer. At school the focus was heavily at OOP koncepts, oral exam and all, so im looking forward to getting my hands dirty, as I really enjoy programming.

    Currently im doing small, just for fun projekts, involving all kinds of bots, which I for some reason is very fascinated by.

    Anyway glad to be here.

    Welcome, Ye I have a problem with hose guys too, although sometimes they can teach people a thing or two. Which is nice, but there are otherways. Problem is all too often people wont put some effort in themselves.

    Nice to have you around anyways, I persoanlly wont be starting University until September. So I have no formal studies down in Java, but I'll do my best to share my little knowledge with you

    Regards,
    Chris

    Thank you.
    Yes it is a fine line. There is people who take advantage of friendly help, and just want work done for them, not help with work they are doing, which is ofcourse not the idea. But the "if you cant even figure that out" type comment, to someone who has posted some code, is sadly a reality some places.

    Been there, seen it and probably done it infact. Although, its sometimes called for. Such as when someone turns around post 3000 lines of code, says he wrote it but he got an error he can't figure out that looks something like this.

    Missing ';'@ line 1744
    and the problem really is that simple. Makes you wonder who's code he is proclaiming to be his, stealing anothers work i find very shameful.

    Welcome Johannes, I hope you will enjoy life here on the JPF side of things. We try to be nice most of the time

    I've seen some funny code at work as well which is kinda hilarious like:

        String myString = new String("Some value here");

        String anotherString = myString.toString();

    or

        Integer.valueOf(stringValue).intValue();

    hehe

    Anyways, welcome yet again!
