Which OS are you using? If Windows, you can start by Googling 'java development windows' or similar and from those results find a getting started guide. If Linux, substitute 'linux' for 'windows' in the above search. If you run into problems or can't find a guide you understand, let us know.

So you've read the forum's guidelines. That's a great start, and I appreciate it.

As for where you go from here, conduct the search I suggested above and get your development environment set up. When you're ready for additional help, please come back with specific details about your problem with specific questions about how to solve them. When describing the details of your problems, always post error messages, copied from exactly as they appear at your end and pasted directly into a post.

You can continue the "getting started" topic here as needed to get going. If you get past the getting started phase and have Java programming questions, please post those in an appropriate area in the forum, probably the "What's Wrong With My Code" sub-forum.

    Good luck!

Ah, your thread updated while I was typing . . .

If you continue to have questions (and that's fine), please post a link to the getting started guide you're using. The choice you listed is the correct one, but be sure to get either the 32-bit or 64-bit version that is compatible with your OS.

I have an app on my computer that can do that. You can probably find one for your OS.
