Default Hey there! Beginner at Java

Hey guys, it's nice to meet you all! I am currently a beginner student in Java, and usually am here for assistance in homework. I personally love older console RPG games, more JRPG but still a fan of RPG's in general. I love MMORPG's because you get to keep your levels and items, lol. I'm a huge fan for PvP but not a fan of the many hardcore PvP guilds that just curse way too much and say silly things all the time. Other than that I like flying games, starcraft 1, infiltration games such as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six, Arma 3, and I'm just a gaming fan in general well maybe except for sports. So hey, anyways it's great to meet you all!

Welcome! Please read this topic to learn how to post code correctly and other useful info for new members.

It's great that you have a rich and varied love of games. From that I anticipate that game programming is something you'd like to do - someday. Take the time to learn the basics first. Realize that it takes some time, maybe a year or two, depending on how much time and effort you put into it. Put the controller away, put time into your studies, and make the effort.

Without a solid understanding of the basics, you'll continue to start projects you can't finish, quit in frustration, return weeks/months later, repeat until final failure and return to being a full-time game player. You decide.

    Good luck!

Thank you for the warm welcome and sound advice! I think I do have the discipline to stick it out, it was more of a tell my hobbies kind of thing when I was talking about RPG's, but yes you are right that I would like to be involved in developing a game someday , thanks GrenBrannon!
