    Default Introductions

Hello, everyone. I'm a 29 year old programmer, currently a college student. I've been programming for fifteen years. The very first language I learned was Perl. My dad is also a programmer, and he started teaching me when I was about fourteen. Until about a year ago, I knew almost nothing about Java, but I took an advanced Java programming course in school (skipping the basic class; I had permission from the instructor, as he was aware that I had previous programming experience) and loved it. I was so used to C++ and having to manage memory myself, and now I feel spoiled by Java, as it takes care of all of that for you.

I'm also a musician and graphic artist. I have lots of hobbies. But my one true love is programming. Right now I'm interested in neural networks and genetic algorithms. I'm very fascinated by these concepts. I'm currently working on building an evolution simulator in Java in my free time. That's why I'm reading up on neural networks, because I'd like organisms to eventually evolve to a point where they can simulate intelligence. Nothing too fancy, obviously, but I'd really like to incorporate something like that into my simulation.

Anyway, enough about me for now, I guess. I look forward to meeting all of you, and maybe even making some friends on here.
