Default Hello Everyone! Many, many years in IT development, but need hands-on practice!

I'm very happy to be here among Java Developers of many levels. Hoping to glean as much as I can, and eventually contribute to this forum, as well.

Currently employed with small company as a Junior/Mid-Level Developer. Spent several years away from IT field between 2008 and 2011. The IT world passed me by, and it's been a challenge trying to retain my previously sharp skills. Lacking some basics, such as well-rounded understanding on setting up IDEs for new projects/tasks (using IntelliJ currently). Current company is using a new functional programming language, but it's critical IMO that I build my foundation on a familiarity, comfort and experience with Java before I attempt to become senior level in any other language; so this will be my only opportunity to discuss Java at length with a group of experienced developers.

Also, over halfway through the Head First Java book in preparation for FINALLY taking the OCPJP 6 Exam.

Need advice, motivation and accountability toward working consistently and incrementally to achieve my goal of reclaiming my skills as a talented developer. Looking forward to interacting with you all!
