I am a senior who is trying to avoid involuntary early retirement by recently graduating from a two year, full time community college program in Computer Programming. I enjoyed all of the courses leading to my diploma and I want to make Java the keystone of my programming knowledge. To that end I started reviewing everything that I learned about Java during my two years and realized that, although I had a theoretical knowledge of topics from creating classes to advanced JEE concepts, when it came to actually writing code, I was sadly lacking in experience.

So....
I decided to start doing the exercises from the textbook while looking for a job in programming - something that was not done during college as all assignments were doled out by the professors. The more exercises I do the more my understanding deepens and things that were vague and not properly understood before are becoming crystal clear and my enjoyment of programming is increasing every day. I am having such a good time coding these solutions, I decided to put them on the web. You can check them out at: Java: Solutions to How to Program 8th Ed. Index

I'm still looking for a job though.
