Default ...And I gazed upon Java, and saw that it was good.

    Hey!

For ages now I've been wanting to learn a programming language to be able to make all those apps that I always think to myself "If only that existed!" I was looking around, and eventually settled on Java as a language that is representative of modern languages...but I'm sure I don't need to preach here, :p.

My goals as a programmer are to make a bunch of free apps (maybe in Java, I'm not too sure what it can handle yet) such as a free video/audio converter for mac. (There is barely anything out there . Also, I've got this idea for a SNES style RPG floating around in my head that I reckon I could eventually make in Java, and then of course give away for free in true GNU spirit.

I'm joining this site because there's only so much help you can get from books, video tutorials and online guides. Hopefully I can draw from this community, and hopefully one day be adept enough to contribute back.

    Much love.

    Omnamah

That's the plan, . I've looked at a couple of forums along these lines (dream.in.code, Java-Forums.org) but this one feels like the friendliest.

I've seen you around a lot on here (I think you've already helped me a couple of times, xD), are you sort of chief admin, overlord, supreme ruler of the site, etc?

Thanks. We do try to be friendly here but as with any public forum, sometimes patience can wear thin!
Just as long as members take on board what is being said, everyone remains happy.

In your name we shall start many a war and kill many people for questioning your authority, for it is the holy way...wait.

Also, what does the 'PF' stand for? I feel like I'll kick myself once you'll say, but I can't think.

Hahaha.. Scroll to the top of the page. Stare at it for a minute. (it actually took me quite a while to realize the connection, so don't feel bad)

Yup, I knew I'd kick myself. It's always the stuff in plain sight that you miss...or is that just me?
