    Post fourier transform

Hey guys, i was reading a book about the workings of internet and i came across the physical layer, where it is said that with the help of fourier transformation the signal from a function is transformed into a box graph, so that you only get 0s and 1s. But i have no idea how that is done and how i would program that, so if anybody has any clue how to do it or knows a webpage i would be really gratefull

Digital signals are by default 1s and 0s.

When you say, "i have no idea how that is done and how i would program that," what specifically are you trying to do?

I would like to create a website with a java program, where you would write a function i.e. f(x)=sin(2*x), and the function would be plotted. Another graph would be plotted at the same time, just transformed with the help of fouriers transform to a box function, representing 0 and 1.
The problem is that i do not have sufficient math knowladge to know hot to do that, i do not know the way how you get from one function to another...

I would be very gratefull for any help, at least pushing me to a website where i could see how it is done... Than you

Sometimes what we imagine and want to do requires us to wait until our knowledge/age/maturity/parents/etc. allows us. Or, we just use the Netbeans GUIBuilder.

There are a couple sites like this one that should impress you and inspire you to learn the math and physics (or reverse that) to write similar applications. Very cool, lots of fun.

Keep coding! Well, in your case, Start coding!
