    Default Screen overlay a possibility?

I was wondering if Java has the capability of writing onto a computer's graphics display without opening a window or applet. I.e. - If I wanted to display text on top of my browser while still being able to use the browser. If not java, does any other language have this capability?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jake

I think Java 1.7 can do some of that. I don't remember how though.
