    Unhappy Hello!!

    Just got this lappy from a friend and apparently it has some type of bug in it that has to do with java. I have absolutely no idea what it is talking about other than the information being provided on the screen. It's all strange to me, but since it was a free I thought it was best try to understand what these strange security settings popups are about since they block access to certain java applications while others go untouched. I suppose they mean something to the trained eye however this isn't my cup of tea, I just know the law of averages is going to take down those places I wish to visit while allowing access to the ones I haven't even heard of. Strange stuff all this computer lingo and programming talk, now I truly understand why I didn't do so well in it a few years back when I should have been paying a little more attention.

    Give me something that I more familiar with and I will understand it, sometimes I break the mold venturing out, I suppose that is how I stumbled across this forum. Thus, here I am, a great place to start. Perhaps someone with a bit more knowledge will assist this rather lost individual solve the riddle before I decide this becomes a gift to yet another.

    Cheers;

    Thread moved.

    Welcome to the forum! Please read this topic to learn how to post code in code or highlight tags and other useful info for new members.

    Please provide more details - exact wording, if possible - about the error messages you're receiving. The little bit of info you've provided sounds like your browser or Java security settings conflict with what you'd like. Find those, crank them to the minimum you're comfortable with and try the troublesome sites again.

    Default Re: Hello!!

    OK will give it a go!

    I'll give you a classic example, from which I have already done some work with the Java Control panel under the security settings/exception site list placing a URL to avoid the site blocking this page which had previously been an indicator as the application being blocked by Java Security. Despite that, I still get the indicator that my security settings are such that this particular application will be blocked which is something I don't understand. This particular site/location is speedtest site. These are the specific error details for this site but when visiting others, essentially they are the same. Yet there are plenty of other locations where Java runs and I don't get this message nor does the application get blocked. As a side note, I have the most current version (8 Update 25) of Java installed. Here is a copy of console log;
