Default I'm having a weird problem with my browsers

    I've gotten

    Connection timed out

The server at sitename.com is taking too long to respond.

Also, now another site that I'm at is starting to do that.
What is going on? Why are some websites timing out?

How do I deal with this?

What's even stranger is that I try to open it in other browsers besides my main one (Firefox)
and they too give error messages.

I've tried another computer, downstairs, and it too couldn't get to my first site. However, I haven't tried it to see if I can get to this new site.

What could be causing the server to time out like this?

Also, it seems others can all get to the first site but I can't, even after over a month!

I'm not sure if others can get to this new site, but it's starting to get me angry.

Also, it might be a search engine or toolbar glitch.

Often, even for Java Programming Forums, I get a message saying

"Oops this page appears to be broken!" from Yahoo and it tries to find the site.

It comes up sometimes when I'm posting, sometimes when I added a smile, and other things. It's also coming up at this new site, though it doesn't appear for most sites, though. But it has for a while from Java Programming Forums and also my new site.

I'm wondering if these two annoyances are related.

Have you tried using a proxy to check to see if other people on the Internet can see those sites? I usually use Google Translate for this job.

What's a proxy? I've asked other people for the first site I had problems with and they said they could all get in fine.

Try to see if you can get into dreamtechweb.com

It appears I'm having problems connecting to some servers.

A proxy is what I just was when I followed the link you posted! It works just fine. Did you ever hear of 'proxy voting'? You nominate someone to vote for you. A web proxy (this way is sometimes called a 'forward proxy') is a service that requests a page on request from you. They're most popularly used by school students to circumvent a school firewall that blocks access to youtube, facebook etc.
Here's Google Translate acting as a translate-into-german proxy for you:

If you're having 'my-site-is-dead' paranoia (happens to us all), websitepulse is pretty handy:
Free Monitoring Test Tools by WebSitePulse

And you could always try a shamefully unattractive, but very effective page such as:
    See Server HTTP Headers

Ok, the proxy things worked, but I can't understand German.

Also, it's still usually taking too long to respond, but I know it's not dead.

Also, I'm getting this message from yahoo:

Oops! This page appears broken. DNS Error - Server cannot be found.

Maybe my yahoo toolbar is causing the problem or something.

But how do I disable it to see for sure?

Can you use traceroute or ping to tell you what's going on with your traffic? If the browser is failing to connect, you must have sufficient connectivity to your ISP's nameservers - and your connection to JPF seems ok today! It could just be that it's a bad route somewhere that's dropping (most of) its traffic.

I had this one time where I tore a strip off my hosting company's tech support for letting my sites go down all the time and then realised that I didn't always successfully kill a buggy nameserver I was developing on my own network that was sending my requests to bad addresses.

    but I can't understand German
Sites taking an unusually long time to load (for you only) sounds like a broken or overloaded route to me. Try your favourite network tool that gives you low-level statistics about network traffic.

This page appears broken. DNS Error - Server cannot be found
Oh, I take back what I said about your ISP's nameservers. Seems like everything is giving up on you. Do you have a cat? Mice? Maybe you should get a cat.

It seems that the network itself might be having problems.

But how do I fix the network?

What favorite network tool were you referring to?

    I have a dog.

However, I think those toolbars, one of which had been causing many errors, have all been disabled and now my network runs faster.

However, the problem is still there, though I may have gotten rid of the "Broken Page" error.

Haven't seen it yet since I disabled the yahoo toolbar.

I had had like 5 or 6 toolbars with my browser (I got them and didn't know how to get rid of them, until now when I looked at plugins and stuff, which I should have done a long time ago, and disabled them all.

Why can't my browser find servers at php forums?

Why are the other browsers not letting me get in either?

What do you do if it's an entire network or ISP, though why the problem would still be lingering, and now increasing!, after over a month is beyond me?

You could try some of the suggestions on this page, it seems like a reasonable place to start:
How to Test Network and Internet Latency (Lag) in Microsoft Windows - wikiHow
You could maybe also have a quick visit to speedtest.net to see if your Internet connection seems to have degraded, if you knew how it performed before.

Open a command window (Start > Run > CMD) and type this in order.
    Press enter after each command..

    ipconfig /release

    ipconfig /renew

    ipconfig /flushdns

Might be worth running a MalwareBytes scan if this doesn't help
