Default Forum list improperly marks whats unread

Maybe its just be, but its annoying when I'm listing the forums and where I've posted (or even the topic that I just posted in) is still marked unread. I can't judge what is new or not.

Maybe this is an old version of vBulletin or my skin? Maybe images or the front page aren't being sent with cache-control off?

Yes that shows up even when I've read the threads I will try to pay attention as to when it happens as when it's gone it's gone but I don't know exactly what causes it.

I think that it only shows up as having been read once I've read all the threads with news posts AND entered the sub-forum itself(e.g. Whats Wrong With My Code?, The Cafe etc)

I think that icon shows even if there is 1 unread thread in the entire forum?! Its based on session timeouts at the moment.

I have been in contact with vBulletin and changed the settings to a different method. It should be a lot more accurate now.

Can you all please log out, close the forum, then come back and login again.

Let me know if you see a change.

Here is the options I can set in the admin panel:

This option controls how threads and forums are marked as read.

    1. Inactivity/Cookie Based - once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (the value of the session timeout option) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies.

This option is how all versions of vBulletin before 3.5 functioned.

    2. Database (no automatic forum marking) - this option uses the database to store thread and forum read times. This allows accurate read markers to be kept indefinitely. However, in order for a forum to be marked read when all threads are read, the user must view the list of threads for that forum.

This option is more space and processor intensive than inactivity-based marking.

    3. Database (automatic forum marking) - this option is the same as a previous option, but forums are automatically marked as read when the last new thread is read.

This is the most usable option for end users, but most processor intensive.

We used to have option 1 selected. Then I changed it to option 2.

I have now changed it to option 3 to see if this works any better.

    What do you think?

As far as im aware, currently the forums marked as read icon will never display if there are unread threads anywhere in the forum.
