Problem: microphone not working in Blackboard Collaborate (appears to be a runtime error)

Background: Microphone is internal to the all-in-one Dell desktop computer. Microphone works using skype and Cortana. Cortana is turned off, as is anything that might be using the mic. Also, I have the correct privacy settings in Chrome and the system.

Question: Can someone tell me what might be going wrong?
