How do you have your coffee?
Coffee is pretty big within Java circles it seems *looks at banner at top of page*, so I was wondering: How do other programmers (I use the term lightly when applied to myself) have their coffee?
I'm guilty of shoving a teaspoons worth of instant coffee in a cup, 2 sugars and lots of milk. Am I alone in this madness? Also, my Mum found some ceramic pint mugs (in the shape of a pint glass) in Ikea. Protip for cutting down the number of trips to the kitchen.

Re: How do you have your coffee?
Hey Omnamah,
I am similar to yourself. Although rather than 2 teaspoons I tend to have at least 2 table spoons worth (almost :P)..
People are always amazed at how much instant coffee I actually put in my cup. I'm always chasing the buzz haha
I finish it off with 2 sugars and milk. Although when there is no milk in the office, I'll happily drink it black.
I would prefer a grande latte from Starbucks but there isn't one near by!
I like that mug from Ikea. I have a special bone china mug which is pretty big. Nothing else will do :)
Re: How do you have your coffee?
I like my coffee in the jar. Don't drink the stuff.
Re: How do you have your coffee?
2 TABLEspoons of instant coffee?? :o. Wow. Your heart must be on tenderhooks, :p. And you must be hyper all day. I find if I drink too much coffee I start to feel crappy and almost kinda dirty, o_0.
Yeah, you can't beat a proper coffee from a café or something. I find instant tastes completely different. A percolator is good for those days where the trip to Costa isn't that appealing though. But it usually ends up just being instant, (Y).
I think, all in all, I'm more of a tea person though. Is that a bad quality in a programmer? :D.
Re: How do you have your coffee?
I do like my caffeine. Probably not the best way to stay awake but it's one of my only vices ;)

Re: How do you have your coffee?
I'm surprised you ever sleep with that much caffeine!
I prefer the original flavour Relentless. I usually don't break the bank that much and just get cheap-ass Kick/KX from Tesco. I remember drinking 1L bottles of that stuff when I was younger. I'd be hyper for a couple of hours then just crash and feel like shit.
I'm quite partial to just drinking water though lately. I don't know what's wrong with me...

Sounds like urinary tract infection. You can get cheap p-on sticks from the pharmacist to check. Someone told me that. /jk
I also favour tea (about a litre of water in a stainless steel pot to one bag - I'm so cheap), but I've got to have one or two cups of coffee a day if I'm feeling tired. I realise that's not so much beverage as lifestyle-drug self-medication, but hey - some of it tastes good too! I go for the own-branded ground coffee from around the world bags (Colombian or Kenyan is doing it for me at the moment) from national chain superstores, brewed in a cafetière - a couple of scoops per cup, black or with a tiny bit of milk.
Re: How do you have your coffee?
I hope it's not...
You use a pot? I can't remember the last time I used a pot to make tea. 1 bag = 1 cup. But that's easy for me to say, what with living at home with my parents still.
I tried making a cup of coffee earlier with the percolator earlier, and it tasted like dirt. Perhaps I messed up somehow, or maybe I'm actually starting to go off coffee. I used to be able to drink cups and cups, but now it's bleugh. Glad I haven't managed to get addicted to it. Tea on the other hand...
Tea and coffee both need to have a monstrous amount of sugar and milk in them. It's how I express my inner child.
Re: How do you have your coffee?
I don't like coffee, but I'm a big fan of diet soda (real soda gives me a headache and makes me feel like my teeth are going to fall out). Back in college I used to start my day with a 2-liter bottle, and by the end of the day I'd sometimes drink over a gallon!
Since then I've cut back (I reached a point where my body was definitely addicted, so I stopped), but I still require a couple cans of diet coke from the vending machine when things are slow at work. And when I have weekends to myself, nothing is better than putting on some nerdy tv, drinking a few diet sodas, and working on my hobby programming!
Re: How do you have your coffee?
I used to drink tonnes of fizzy, particularly coke, but then my chest around my heard started to hurt like a boss.
A gallon? No wonder you got addicted, 0_0. Did you float away in a strong breeze?
I didn't realise the American spelling of 'litre' was 'liter'. *Puts on elitist British persona, complete with monocle.*

Count me in into the Coffee Addicts Club :)
At least 2 coffees per day. I like it mild, hot with milk and sugar and sometimes cream. I'm aware with the fact that coffee works more like a Placebo for me, because it definetely cannot contain as much caffeine to wake my brain up, but I need something to drink while reading my e-mails and feeds, right? :)

Re: How do you have your coffee?
Hmm seems I'm the least fancy here. Two cups a day, with some milk but not to much. K-Cups all the way!
Re: How do you have your coffee?
Coffee is my favorite drink and i'm very picky about it, i used to work as a bartender making all kinds of coffees in the morning, with high tech and retro espresso machines. It took me a year to understand coffee and learn how to make the perfect cup of coffee. I like my coffee fresh, never drink instant, i ground 300grams every month and use a pump-powered Espresso machine to brew the coffee straight into a heated cup. I scoop a 5 grams portion of grounded coffee and stamp it gently into a portafilter and let the magic begin. After the brewing process is done, the cup is full of black coffee with a hazelnut colored crema on top. The whole process takes about 3-4 minutes and is repeated 3-5 times a day. I add half a tea spoon of sugar and a cigarette to the ritual :)
mmmm..... Coffee ~o)
