I have decided to learn Java, and this looked like a good community for help with questions. My background is engineering but I've spent most of my career programming embedded devices in assembler, PLX, and C. I've also done some OS and app development in C++, but my skills are very rusty.
I've picked out a little project to get started with, comparing sections of a hex dump from a DSP system to individual files to match which files were used in which positions. The DSP system allows you to download individual impulse responses (IRs) but does not allow them to be tagged with any metadata, so this will be a little utility to identify which IR files ended up where.
I'm thinking of creating a CRC for each IR to use in the comparisons, but with my lack of formal CS training I may be missing an obvious technique. At any rate, first I need to get through the tutorials and shake off some of the rust.
Welcome to the Java Programming Forums.
It's good to have an experienced developer on board. I look forward to helping you with your Java projects.
