Hi, I'm new here!

Hello everyone!

My name is Winston. I'm 24, I'm from Florida and I'm new to Java and programming in general.

I grew up working in other geek related fields like filmmaking and playing piano and although programming was something I always thought was really cool and wanted to do, I never really thought I could ever actually do it.

BUT I got over that and finally decided that it was time to give it an honest try, and I wanna go back to school next year for programming. In the meantime I've picked up a few books on Java and have been teaching myself and practicing for a few weeks.

I'm a total and complete noob and have a long way to go before I have anything useful to contribute here but I really wanted to get involved in a community like this to help keep me focused and maybe make a few friends along the way.

I also love anime and video games but I guess thats typical of guys like me.

You sound similar to me. :-B I play a little piano and like to make electronic music in Cubase.
It's good to see you are interested in learning Java. Reading books and following tutorials is the best way to learn.
