i have been crossing over from web development to java in order to develop android apps at some point. I have been working on a 2d game to practice and get some of the fundamentals down. I am here to find a community that can help me when I am lost.
Any advice on the types of applications I should be practicing in order to get a grasp on things would be much appreciated.
What to work on. Write up a list of things you can do in java, based on your knowledge of programming in general and of Java syntax. Try to think of a project based off of those skills, and come up with ideas to expand on. Watch the forum for people who are kind (or lazy) enough to post their homework instructions and complete the assignment (but please do not post the solution). Alternatively post your list of "can dos" and perhaps others can suggest a project.
thank you much. I am very new. I have followed two tutorials. One to create a payroll system which was very long and very intense but I did not understand what I was doing just copying code that was written on you tube. and my recent project is a 2d game which is fairly simple but I understand the code a lot better. I am having problems implementing things like moving targets and collision detection to trees or the moving target.
I understand what needs to be done, but im having trouble understanding where to put the code and the limitations. such as is the proper way to put collision detection on a tree adding the coordinators on four sides of the tree of is it possible to add a radius in px around some cords. things like that i am not clear on.
I am pretty lost on where to start and where to find answers.
