JDBC+MYSQL

hi all,

I have been trying very hard. But can any 1 tell me that if i were to use simple notepad for jdbc and mysql connection without any ides and just for my stand alone application not for web were you would tell me to put mysqlconnector.jar file webinf/lib folder where would i place my mysql connector.jar and how would i edit my classpath settings. cause am having real difficulty in doing this.
