need help to compile

I need some help to compile some code. The code is located here :

what i need to know first is how and what tool chain should i use to compile this code.

i have both windows and linux to work with.


next thing i need to know is what i should compile it as. ex applete?

My goal is to add code that will allow the app to connect to an SSL server, I have all that defined i just have been having problems compiling.


as you may have guessed i am new to JAVA so if there are other things i can read that will assist me provide that as well.
