Does Java create the following undeletable embedded-null registry entry..?
Someone has installed Java on my vista machine, and my antivirus (avira) is now telling me that I now have an unremovable 'invisible' entry in the registry (an embedded null), at:-
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\DbgagD\1
When I use regedit, I can see the location, but do nothing with it.
I think its the installation of the latest Java runtime environment thats the cause.
Can anyone verify this, so I need not worry? Thanks for any help :)
Re: Does Java create the following undeletable embedded-null registry entry..?
I am not sure what the answer is to your registry entry.
However, I will say that I experienced enough issues with a botched installation of Java that I had to back up all my files and have a friend reset my machine.
In my case, I had four Java versions/updates on my machine but only three registry keys. I kept receiving error 1723 as well.
After my friend restored my computer, I was able to install the proper version of Java on my computer and have been experiencing no problems ever since.
Good luck and let us know what happens.
Re: Does Java create the following undeletable embedded-null registry entry..?
i didn't have a restore cd, so i downloaded a live cd of ubuntu, got on there and managed to remove the registries that were causing my updating issues. so if it comes to that and you dont have a windows cd you have a way out. its just a lot harder. but your problem isnt updating java, your also not asking how to remove it, as for the verification of that i dont think that is normally there, and I dont believe its of java origin.
Not sure about these forum rules when it comes to links. but here is a interesting link to microsoft on the problem.
