NetBeans is a force to be reckoned with, Although there may be other outlets in which to discuss this power IDE, any decent Java forum cannont Ignore such an integral part of Java community.
This month the 6.5 version will be released with major modifications eliminated any need to work with any other IDE, all this from an open source community - we can now break the chains of the Asinine Demagogues Of Business Enterprise and their reign of the WEB IDE.
To start, there is a great book by Apress that give a great step by step on using the ide from generating desktop , to web apps.
let get the fire burning.

Hey javacrazed..
Do you work for NetBeans or something? :))
What is the name of this book that you recommend?
Re: Are We seriously Ignoring NetBeans?
The Name of the Book is "Pro NetBeans 6 : Rich Client Platform Addition" by Adam Myatt.
I have to say that I am not a Sun nor an Apress employee, nor do I work for any of their affiliates. Just some one who is amazed at what the open community is capable of and hoping one day to be able to make a meager contribution.

Open Source communitys can indeed be powerful. Some of the best software has been created this way. Look at Linux as an example!
