Assistance requested in setting up JAVA environment
Hi! I'm retired but trying to modify a Chess program to change the output and allow retrieving a previous chess piece move from what I understand id a stack of moves. The source program includes some strings such as "White Wins!", Black Wins!" and "Draw" but does not display them. I want the program to display the comments as appropriate. I am on MS XP Pro SVC 3, 1meg memory. I have downloaded JAVA 7 t C:\Java but have been unable to perform the "Hellow-World.java" compile and execute. All I get is a screen flash.
The file Hello-World.jave" is also in the same folder. The Chess program in a .txt version is available
I have macula generation. I am *3 years old. The print of this is almost impossible for me to read.
Re: Assistance requested in setting up JAVA environment
Hey Bob,
I'd say the best place for you to start would be here: "Hello World!" for Microsoft Windows (The Java™ Tutorials > Getting Started > The "Hello World!" Application)
That tutorial goes over everything you need to do to get "Hello World" working. There's a little bit of setup involved, but it goes into pretty good detail for beginners.
I would say that's your first step, and we can work with you from there to get you going.
As for the text size, you should be able to change that in your settings. Look in the control panel (start > settings > control panel) for accessibility settings. Or you could try simply decreasing your screen resolution.
