Java compiling windows 7 problem

I have Windows 7 64 bit and for some reason when I try to compile code through cmd it doesn't compile the code. I have Windows XP on a virtual computer and I can compile code through there.

Is there any way I can use the java compiler on Windows 7 64 bit ?

What do you mean that it "doesn't compile the code"? Do you get an error message?
